Travel agencies and parcel dispatches to countries of the former USSR
Full Description
The settlement of migrants on the western outskirts of the historic centre of Thessaloniki, as well as in other neighbourhoods and suburbs in the wider area of western Thessaloniki, created a need for transportation links between the city and the various places the migrants had originated from after 1989 and the fall of the socialist regimes. Several travel agencies and parcel delivery services to and from the former USSR were located around the Ancient Agora Square. Three times a month, coaches would depart from Lagada Street in the area of Vardaris for different destinations in Eastern Europe, while vehicles delivering parcels to various cities and countries of the former USSR would leave from Ancient Agora Square.
